Flux Dance Project will present Displaced Origins, a movement investigation of the realities of being a refugee resettled in the United States, on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 7:30 PM at Memorial Hall in Steele Indian School Park. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.fluxphx.com or at the door for $12.00. COAR, a community based non-profit organization, will host a silent lobby auction before the event to support resettled refugees in their efforts to reconstruct positive, self- sufficient lives.
The company developed Displaced Origins to recognize the resilience of refugees to endure amidst even the most insurmountable odds. The choreographic work offers insight into the experiences of being a displaced person without a country, a home and an identity. With the help of Community Outreach and Advocacy for Refugees (COAR), Flux draws particular attention to the process of rebuilding after relocation.
TICKETS: $12 each
